@Corso: I'm not sure what you find what is oriented to a professional developer. Nothing I've said above precludes the use of the Express editions (and my next post will cover the possible toolsets more specifically).

The issue of the use of the MingW toolchain is more complex and is the subject of occasional threads on python-dev or on the issue tracker. In short, the Python core doesn't currently compile unpatched against MingW and while some people do maintain patchsets the core development team doesn't seem likely to switch over wholesale. There are, obviously, both technical and philosophical issues around that situation.

If you want something to appear on Python's main page can I suggest you post a concrete suggestion to python-dev or to the Python webmaster and not on some lost blog ;)

This seems oriented to proffessional Windows developer. There are people without a Visual Studio license who would like to contribute, so I think there should be someorientation to use mingwin or the free editions of Visual Studio (in Python´s main page, not on some lost blog) to increase the comunity.

Looking forward to part II. The already-stretched developers would get valuable feedback if more users were building and testing the alpha and beta releases.
